Duplicate Annihilator
Duplicate Annihilator is the oldest duplicate detection software for photos on the market and also probably the most well tested. Over the years it has helped millions of customers with the daunting task of cleaning up their duplicate photos.
How does it work?
By the click of a button Duplicate Annihilator scans your library for duplicates using various sets of well tested detection algorithms and assign the detected duplicates to an album where you can review and delete the duplicates. Duplicate Annihilator is also highly configurable for the more advanced user.
What about metadata and duplicates with different quality?
When Duplicate Annihilator detects a set of duplicates it determines which one that has the best resolution, least destructive compression and bets file format and keeps that one as the original. Any metadata that has been added to the duplicates such as titles, captions or keywords are copied from the duplicates to the remaining originals so that no metadata is lost.
If a detected duplicate is used in an album then the duplicate will be replaced with the original so that the albums remain intact.
By doing this we make sure that you keep the photos with the highest quality and that no added metadata or work that you have put into organizing your library is lost.
